How to Find Us
The Loubird Inn is conveniently located in downtown Escalante on scenic Highway 12, which turns into Main Street. We are across from the red "Phillips 66" Gas Station and "Excursions of Escalante," surrounded by our own private Oasis. There's a sign on the corner fence. Read more below...
Where On Earth is Escalante?
Here in Escalante, population 750 or so, just about everything is within half a mile! Although it's mighty quiet when the sun sets around here, we have plenty of good food in this town, and you'll find directions in your Guest Info book to find the best places to eat.
We get calls asking "Are you close to the trails?" We are 5 miles from Hole-In-The-Rock Road, where one can find many trailheads to slot canyons, Devils Garden, dinosaur tracks, and other amazing landscapes. Our guests go from Bryce Canyon to Capitol Reef National Parks, visit Pioneer or Native American sites, or wander in from the wilderness of the Grand Staircase monument to get a bit of fresh food and the most comfortable beds in town!
Many of our guests fly into Salt Lake City (304 miles) or Las Vegas (288 miles) and are on a national parks tour. A stop in Escalante is a surprising respite from the crowds and an amazing Canyon Country adventure! For the fastest route from either airport (5 hours) head towards interstate 15 north of Cedar City, then east on Highway 20 for 20 miles. Turn right on Highway 89 through Panguitch, then left on scenic Highway 12. One hour more of amazing scenery, through Red Canyon and a corner of Bryce Canyon, and you will arrive in Escalante. The Loubird Inn will be on the right on the far side of town. If you are coming from Boulder, we will be on the left, right before the red gas station on the other side.
